We have tested out a new chat room to see if everyone likes it enough to have me pay the subscription for it. The consensus is that this one is preferable to the one in the Delphi Forum. In order to use this chat room you will have to accept the running of a chat applet and sign in with an ID. The person running this chatting service is someone I know and trust, so I believe her when she says the applet is 100% free of spyware and will not conflict with other applications. I have arranged to have the room be private rather than listed in the directory and have it free of ads. When the chat page opens you might have to scroll the page down a bit to see the whole chat window depending on your screen size and resolution. I had Julie set up the window a bit larger than normal to give us a bit more room in the chat frame and had the font size bumped up a bit. Step by step instructions: Then when the chat room opens (it may take awhile - especially at first) 1. Pick a Nick Name: (whatever you want to have seen by others) You may leave it set as Basketry Guest. I will use Susibasket and there will be an @ to the left of my name because I have administrative control of the room. If this works out I should be able to enlist the help of hosts who would have similar ways to identify them. 2. Leave the channel set to BasketMakers. 3. You may leave the "real name" set to Basketry Chatter if you do not want to state your real name for all to see. If you enter your real name in this form field others will be able to see it if they look it up, but only your nickname displays in the chat window. 4. Leave the Server Name field and the other fields untouched. 5. Then select Connect Now! Another page will open (it may take a while to load) 6. Click your mouse in the wide white bar at the bottom of the window if there isn't already a flashing cursor there. Once the cursor is flashing there, type your chat message into that white bar and hit enter. Try it out during the regularly scheduled Friday night (9 PM) Open Basket Chat at BasketMakers. |
