Discussion Forum: FAQ |
 |
Q. Do I have to register for
this forum?
A. That's up to you. If you just want to look around and see what people are
talking about, you can enter as a Guest. You will need to register if you want to post.
Q. What topics can be discussed?
A. The Basketry Discussions Forum is meant to be a meeting place where you can
discuss anything related to basketry. This includes, but is not limited to, questions,
opinions, suggestions, reflections and ideas. Please keep your posts basketry related so
that the board is useful and enjoyable. Reflect the topic of your message in the subject
line of your post. If you are changing the topic, start a new topic rather than keep the
old subject heading.
Q. Are there rules of behavior?
A. Yes. Individuals using the board are expected to treat others with courtesy. It
is fine to both have and express differing opinions on any topic, but you will be expected
to maintain a high level of civility. This site is used by people of all ages. Posts that
use offensive language or that "flame" others will need to be removed. Spam will
not be tolerated.
Q. Can I advertise my business on the discussions forum?
A. No, sorry. Any posts with items for sale with pricing information
will be removed from the forum. Contact
me for information about paid advertising programs on BasketMakers for this purpose.
Anyone may include their business or personal site URL in their signature. Individuals may offer an item for private
sale without mention of price and ask interested parties to make contact by email.
Q. I have a basketry related Web page. May I post it here?
A. If you have a basketry related Web page, you are encouraged to
announce it to forum visitors. The easiest way to do it is to include your URL in your signature under your name.
If your site is commercial, (i.e. selling anything) please point visitors to pages
containing useful non-commercial basketry content only, please.
Q. Is this bulletin board "child safe"?
A. No. Although an effort will be made to keep posts on-topic and to remove
offensive posts, no one will be monitoring the board on a 24-hour basis. Generally, it
should be safe for basketmakers of all ages.
Q. I am new to basketry. May I ask a beginner's question?
A. You not only may, you are encouraged to. We all are beginners once and
we are happy to help someone just getting started.
Q. Can I post information about classes, basketry guild meetings, conferences or
exhibits?
A. Please do!
Q. What do all those strange little symbols and acronyms I see in people's posts mean?
A. They are a type of shorthand. Here is a quick explanation of some of the most
common ones:
