Decorate With Baskets At Christmas
 As
the holiday spirit fills the air, it is wonderful to use the baskets you love to decorate
your home. Bring out your favorite pieces and work them into your decorating in a
variety of ways.
Small baskets and other
woven items make wonderful tree decorations. Some are woven expressly as ornaments
like this black ash and sweetgrass bell. Others can be drawn from your collection of
small baskets and strung with a cord temporarily to be hung on the tree during this
festive season.
Another idea is to fill
your larger baskets with seasonal flowers like poinsettias or cyclamen, add a pretty plaid
bow and work the filled basket into a table vignette paired with small Christmas
collectibles.
I like to use baskets on the fireplace mantle filled with
natural seeds, nuts or cones and backed with cut greens such as Fraser fir or cedar.
 To celebrate the child in
us all, you could fill a basket with your stuffed toys. It is fun to pull out that
long cherished teddy from your childhood, along with your child's special stuffed friend.
Dress them up in Christmas garb and place them into a large basket next to the tree to
spend the holiday as a special guest of the family. Don't forget to decorate your
pet's basket with a pretty bow or ribbon too.
Best wishes for a very Merry
Christmas.
