"I am making a Dreidel kit for the children of a friend. I made four small open baskets that nest together. I will fill them with four Dreidel tops and an ample supply of gold foil wrapped chocolate gelt coins."

I have designed a printable craft project pattern for a paper dreidel top. You can print this craft project out on your home color printer and make a top so that you and your friends and family can play a Chanukah game together.

Things you will need

  • Sheet of white paper as thick as your printer will accommodate.
  • Short pencil such as a golf pencil with sharpened point
  • Color computer printer
  • Scissors
  • Glue and/or tape
  • Paper punch
  • Pattern for Dreidel

Let's Get Started

  • Check your printer settings so that nothing is automatically added to the header or footer of the page.
  • Print the Dreidel Pattern. The pattern is placed on a page that has a reduced amount of advertising and extraneous text. This reduces the amount of data sent to the printer. To save even more ink you can highlight the image with your cursor, then give your printer a command to print only the current selection.
  • Once your pattern is printed out, carefully cut out the image.
  • Use a paper punch to remove the circle in the top flap.
  • Prefold along all of the crease lines at the edges of each side and the glueing tabs.
  • Fold the top of the pattern piece into a cube shape.
  • Glue each tab in place as you assemble the cube.
  • Carefully glue the edges of the lower triangles together to form a point.
  • Fold the top flap over and glue to complete the dreidel shape.
  • If glue is too difficult or messy, tape can be substituted. Tape may show to the outside of your finished dreidel.
  • Once the shape is assembled and the glue is dry, insert the pointed end of the golf pencil through the hole you punched in the top flat and push it down into the point.

That's It, You're Done
